Wake 03:09
Don't look back You wrote "I hope these letters will one day wash on the shore See I've been counting all of the strokes And I hope somebody knows I'm drifting through the floor" Over and over again walking in circles And then passing the time until you crawl back in bed Wake up We only wanted you Wake up We only wanted you to see the sun Do you think of when you lost a friend? You couldn't talk him down from the ledge Speak! She's begging, but you don't say a thing You sit in silence watch her staring at her wedding ring See the windows of the church across the street Looking down at you like mourners at a wake And you stare hard into the stained glass Until it hurts to lift your head The clouds are gathering off in the distance A storm is rolling in. Underground (Your words fall through) Beneath the trees (I don't believe you) Nothing left (I need to see it in your eyes) You're part of the dirt that we're left to breathe (Always waiting) And the leaves they fall (So frustrating) And the seasons change Seems after all You're just some pages in a journal that no one will read

Shudder 03:09
Deadly, the way you speak "She always loved to sing" your mother read on stage Whispers that make the willow weep We sat there in shock, tried not to make a sound Ugly sounds from underground It's just a false sense of drama, a false sense of suspense It's just a story that everyone seems to know The air was bitter then, it's stale and distant now Like the world inside a photograph and I want out We shuddered in the cold underneath the ancient willow trees We spoke in whispers barely audible above the winter breeze Power lines, sparks fly I see you in the willow trees Seen in bitter memories The rumors are spreading There's something evil living in the woods on the edge of town The villagers panic They're lighting torches and they're gonna burn it all to the ground I see you in the burning willows You don't make a sound I see you there You can't get out You can't get out

Break 02:41
Towers burn and the bridges collapse While we dance and we dance and the vultures dive to pick at the scraps While everybody claps We let the culprits get away free They disappear without a trace I've heard it said that God is dead Well....l I hope he's in a better place Hear the sirens...always sirens There's lightning in the skies Colder as you go farther down below the surface Forgetting what the sunlight feels like on your skin

Family Ties 02:02
A tragedy how the rush comes over me You'll see We won't stop once we start The games we play in the dark No, you won't go away You're digging up graves You're pacing all the hallways of the house while we sleep So turn on the lights Look me right in the eyes Tell me why you're here and all the things you had to hide You need your rest Close the blinds Lock it down No one gets in No one gets out Living life by the edge of your knife You've cut the family ties Living life by the edge of your knife And that's just fine Don't move It's inside the house.

Cringe 03:28
Flashing traffic lights paint the city bright red As the streets are wrapped inside the midnight fog Sirens off in the distance signal that somewhere, something has gone horrible wrong And the cops go on about some kids drinking scotch Blowing stop signs, while in the waiting room of St. John's Head buried in hands, a father hopes for news about his only son Counting the heartbeats Who would've guessed the lights would go out? And down in the city they're putting him underground Who would've guessed we'd be left here in this wreck? There's nothing left Now the doctors are rushing through the hospital halls Flat-line, panic, frantic shouts, and telephone calls Praying for his life, praying for a pulse While he just sits and watches it all Can't stand the fucking sight of His mangled body in a hospital bed So close the door and pull the curtains You'll never see him again And now suddenly he's back in the spring of '99 Taking Tommy out to Buck Branch Park watching him play out in the sunlight Now he's wrapping him up in his arms on the night that his mother died Holding back tears Talking all about love All about God All about resilience and the beauty of life Did all all those words mean anything at all? Or were they wiped away that night like random scribbles on a bathroom stall? When metal hit bone did they shatter like your body on the windshield glass? Are you really just a ghost in these photographs? Now the doctors are rushing through the hospital halls Flat-line, panic, frantic shouts, and telephone calls Praying for his life, praying for a pulse While he just sits and watches it all Can't stand the fucking sight of His mangled body in a hospital bed So close the door and pull the curtains You'll never see him again.

Attic Space 01:59
Here's to another December Live by the light of the embers To stay warm we're throwing our letters into the fire Sitting in an empty smoke filled bedroom I wonder why we'd walk on broken glass And stare down at our reflections Ignoring all the cracks Danny's in the hospital again And we can't afford to keep the lights from going out There are vipers in the holes that we would hide in There is venom in the hallways of the house Its fine The world turns white I swear to you that its fine Sometimes we even sleep at night Living life by pulling down all of the shades Don't let them figure out that we're afraid Of the next timebomb and the next tragedy Even though we know its coming Always staring at footsteps and lost in my head Are we a step now from heaven or a step from the ledge? I don't know if I could take a winter like it again Even though we know its coming No one will blink when we leave this place They'll put our things up in the attic just to free up living space Into dusty cardboard boxes we will disappear No one will talk about what happened here No one will blink when we leave this place They'll put our things up in the attic just to free up living space Into boxes we disappear No one will talk about what happened here.

Speak 04:15
Hear the bells start to ring and the gospel choir sings It's a Sunday night service and you're home across the street You think about the night she took off the ring Said "I'm leaving with the kids" And the lawyers drew up contracts to clean up the mess You were left in this house You keep the windows shuttered Covered up in dust that diamond lost its luster And its cloudy tonight no you can't see the stars You take a deep breath and slowly slide the needle deep into your arm Scratch in the journal that you write in every night You're always searching for the words but you can never get it right And this house is full of haunted pianos Songs from a different life And some flowers that died in the absence of sun-light the hallways with candles, ghosts won't go away And you speak and you speak, but you have nothing to say And no one who will listen the drug creeps through your mind And you wonder if this is what dying feels like I found your old journal in a secondhand store The covers weathered by the decades and the pages bent and torn And I read through all those letters sitting here all alone And I will carry now forever the last words you ever wrote You said (Bury me) (Underground) (Beneath the trees) (Just come back to pick up the leaves) "Speak...Speak don't be like me Don't end up an empty broken lighthouse on an unforgiving sea So just speak don't try to hide Because all of my saviors would rather be crucified."
